Heating and air plans, Columbus

The furnace gets looked at in October. The air conditioner, in April.

Kincaid Heating & Air puts both visits on your calendar and runs its crews by street, so your house has a week and a day before you ever think to call.

Your year

Four dates, set before you ask

Which of these you get depends on the plan. Every one of them arrives as a text, with a day that is already picked.

  • September

    Your week arrives by text

We send the week our crew is on your street. Reply with a day, or let the week stand.

  • October

    The furnace visit

Burner, heat exchanger, flue and safety switches, then a carbon monoxide test of every alarm.

  • January

    Filter and humidifier check

On the Year-round plan: a new pad if the old one has turned to mineral, and a look at the filter.

  • April

    The cooling visit

Coil, drain line, refrigerant levels and electrical parts, a month before the first hot week.

A service plan is not insurance. It pays for the visits listed, not for breakdowns: repairs, parts and new equipment are quoted in writing and paid for separately. Labor discounts apply to repairs quoted after a plan visit; parts are at list price and equipment is not discounted. The warranty covers our repair labor for 1 year; parts carry the maker's warranty. The terms, limits and exclusions are in the written warranty we give you with the repair. A plan renews on the date you joined. We text you 30 days before, and if you cancel by phone or email before that date, the next year is not billed.

What the furnace visit looks at

Ten things, in the order the technician does them. You get the list back in writing, with a line beside each one.

  • Thermostat calls for heat, and its settings are read back to you

  • Burner and ignition watched through a full cycle

  • Flame sensor cleaned

  • Heat exchanger looked at with a light and a camera, where it can be reached

  • Flue and vent connections checked for gaps and rust

  • Gas connections tested for leaks

  • Blower motor and wheel cleaned and checked

  • Filter checked, and changed if you have set one out

  • Limit and safety switches tested

  • Carbon monoxide read at the furnace and at every alarm in the house

Plan members

What members say about the visits

“The October text came with the week for my street. I picked Thursday, and the technician showed me the flame sensor he had cleaned. I did not have to remember a thing.”

Sheena B.Both seasons plan, bungalow

“The furnace is old. He wrote its age and the readings on the visit note and told me what to watch for. The note lives in the drawer with the manual.”

Louis N.Furnace plan, Grandview Heights

“By January the humidifier pad was a block of mineral. The January visit swapped it and checked the filter. It was on the calendar, so I did not skip it.”

Jessenia M.Year-round plan, Reynoldsburg

Questions about the plans

My carbon monoxide alarm is going off.

Get everyone, pets included, out of the house and call 911 from outside. Do not go back in to open windows or switch the furnace off. Call us after the fire department says the house is clear, and we will come and find the cause.

Is a plan insurance?

No. A plan pays for scheduled visits. If something breaks, the repair is quoted in writing and you pay for it, with the labor discount on your plan and the parts at list price.

What if I do not answer the text?

We call once. If we still cannot reach you, we do not enter the house: we move you to the next open week on your route and tell you the date.

Can I cancel?

Yes, any time before the renewal date, by phone or email. We text you 30 days before it. A visit already made is not refunded.
